Project Anti-Procrastination ~ Coupons

I have been wanting to learn how to use coupons for a while, especially the ones that bring the total cost of the product to FREE!  However, I have been procrastinating, besides so many of the coupons are not worth the time it takes to clip, because I can get the store brand cheaper, even if I were to use the coupon for the name brand, and that would cut into my budget…not cool!  But, the other day when I was browsing blogs, wondering how these ladies get so many FREE things, I started thinking, “If I could get these products for FREE, then it would actually help my budget, not break it.  And, I could afford to stock up a bit!”

But, there was still one dilemma, I didn’t speak the same “language” as these ladies.   Somewhere, in each of their posts, they stopped speaking English and started speaking this whole other “language”, I’ll call it Couponese, and unless you know what they are talking about, you are going to be just as lost as I was…er…still am. Come on, there has to be a Couponing for Dummies guide somewhere…if not there should be!

I can’t tell you how excited I was when I found  Deal Seeking Mom,  she has a list of the very best coupon deals, and how much the product will cost after using the coupons. Only thing, now I need to get my hands on a Proctor and Gamble sales paper!!  Fortunately some of the coupons she lists can be found online and printed out!  That is what I did, I went through her list, found products I was interested in that could be printed, and then printed the ones that were still available!  That was easy enough…now I just need to spend them…that may be a whole ‘nother story

That’s what I will tackle today..or tonight on Tackle It Tuesday.  When dh gets home, I am headed out the door for some peace and quiet  shopping!  My plan is to use the coupons that I printed last night, and not spend over $10 out of pocket!  I will post a pic of what I “purchased” and how much OOP (out of pocket…see I’m learning :o) I paid!  (When dh gets my camera software installed onto his computer, b/c the desktop died…again)!

This, of course, is just the first step to couponing, there is still so much more to learn, but hey I have to start somewhere.  I will start with MFQs (Manufacturer Coupons…whoo hoo, that’s 2), and then I will start reading on shopping at the drugstores and using ECBs (ExtraCare Bucks…look at me,I’m on a roll), and pretty soon I will be as fluent in Couponese as the other Coupon Divas!

Want to see what others are talking about, then stop procrastinating and head over to The Lazy Organizer for some Talk about Tuesday, and then go see what others are tackling at Tackle It Tuesday.

It’s definitely a learned skill, but well worth it. Hope your trip goes well and you find some great bargains!

I tried couponing with the Grocery Game a few months ago and just couldn’t get into it. I’m like you and feel that buying store brands and shopping sales works just as well. So I gave it up. I figure my time is valuable and the time I was spending on couponing was just not worth it. I hope that it works for you though.

      Kristy,

Thank you for visiting and for leaving a comment!

If couponing continues to go the way it did for me tonight, then I will find a new hobby!

      Come by again!
      God Bless,
      Brandi
